Built for the deep end

cavenine is a boutique engineering studio for backend and infrastructure work: the distributed systems, security platforms, data pipelines, and databases that sit under everything else. It is deliberately small — senior engineering with no hand-offs, no account layer, no juniors learning on your production system.

We’ve spent our careers on systems where failure is expensive and visible: security products defending millions of endpoints, infrastructure holding millions of concurrent connections, pipelines that cannot silently drop data. That’s the work we take on.

Why “cavenine”?

Deep expertise requires going below the surface. Like exploring a deep cave system, serious engineering takes preparation, the right tools, and the experience to navigate the unknown. We go deep so you don’t have to.

What we work on

How we work

Four principles, in order: survey first — understand a system before proposing changes to it; anchor twice — nothing hangs from a single point of failure; run the line — every deploy reversible, every request traceable; carry less — boring technology, chosen deliberately. We don’t chase trends. We pick the tool that will still be the right tool in five years.

Engagements are few and focused: architecture and scaling work, ground-up build-outs, and rescues of systems that have outgrown their design.
